Lake Eyre Returns to Normal

As expected, the just-concluded summer – a particularly hot one – has sucked the last of the water from Lake Eyre, and it now resumes its normal dry condition, as it has done over thousands of years. The Lake Eyre Yacht Club (based in Marree) will presumably focus its activities until further notice on boat maintenance, clubhouse improvements, and elbow bending, as it has done most of the time since its founding in 2000.

Whilst viewing of the Lake when it contains water is a popular tourist activity, seeing the dry salt deposits glistening on a sunny day is also a memorable experience.

About dazzlerplus

Writing about the things that interest me helps me to discover what I think. One of my loves is the Australian Outback, and I travel out there often, and when possible take friends with me.
