It’s become evident to me over the years that some people are much more observant than others. And of course, some have much better memories than others. (I’d give a list here of some of my friends who have hopeless memories, but fortunately for them, I can’t remember who they are.)
Sometimes, I’ll say to someone who’s been on a trip to the Outback with me, “Do you remember that elderly person we met in Coober Pedy?”, and they’ll say “Yes, you mean the one who’d just got back from Port Augusta? She was wearing a red overcoat – it was a cold day. I think she’d just been to the supermarket.” And I’ll think, “Wow, all I can remember is that she was elderly.”
Anyway, here’s a picture of a rather photogenic dead tree. Some people with sharp memories and good powers of observation will have no difficulty in telling me just where it is in the vast Australian Outback.

There is a nearby eatery. When asked, “What kind of pies do you have?”, they replied, “Round ones!”
Definately Cameron Corner, I have photos of my kids in that tree.
Well, you’re all correct — it’s Cameron Corner, where SA, NSW and QLD meet. And the “eatery” is the aptly-named “Corner Store”, staffed by the inimitable Fenn and Cheryl. And yes, their pies are all round ones.
And the fence in the background is the famous “Dog Fence”. The theory is “dingoes on one side, sheep on the other side”. The picture was taken on the dingo side.
I guess I’ll have to make these Picture Challenges harder!
