Of Droughts and Flooding Rains

Some people reading this will have been on a Bobby Dazzler trip which visited Comeroo Station, located north-west of Bourke in the north-west of New South Wales. The attraction there (apart from Chris and Bruce Sharpe who own the property) is the camels. We sometimes go on an overnight “camel safari”, and camp under the stars in the bush, complete with a nearby spa fed by warm bore water. Magic! Here’s a picture:

I’ve just received a picture from Chris and Bruce, taken from Bruce’s light plane, showing the floodwaters there as of a few days ago. Most of the rain fell in Queensland, but makes its way south across the flat country, mainly via the Warrego River and Cuttaburra Creek, and their many tributaries. Comeroo is not strictly part of the Channel Country, but is not far away.

The homestead and other buildings just missed out on getting flooded.

Writing about the things that interest me helps me to discover what I think. One of my loves is the Australian Outback, and I travel out there often, and when possible take friends with me.
